The Pennsylvania Public Health Association (PPHA), the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health (PORH), and the Penn State College of Medicine’s Public Health Program are offering a one-day conference, Addressing the Health Care and Public Health Needs of Vulnerable and Underserved Populations: Issues and Solutions for the Delivery of Quality Community-based Services, which will highlight community and public health issues and initiatives for diverse and underserved populations. Abstracts are now being accepted on topics that address:

  • Issues that impact health status included, but not limited to, community-based health care services; domestic and intimate partner violence; substance abuse; behavioral health; maternal and child health; barriers to access to care; and oral health;
  • Best practices in improving the health of special and underserved populations, with a special focus on migrant and immigrant farmworkers;
  • The use of data-driven and evidence-based practices in public and community health;
  • Innovations in achieving Healthy People 2020 goals; and
  • Improvements in community and public health indicators.
