The Office of State Fire Marshal has regulatory responsibility to ensure compliance with state fire safety regulations. This is accomplished through inspection activities by deputy state fire marshals in the field and code consultation and plans review services provided by the Engineering Services Section.

Fire prevention activities aimed at reducing injury, death and property loss are managed by the Public Fire Safety Education Section. Activities include the distribution of smoke detectors, programs in the schools to educate youth and the dissemination of timely fire safety information to the public.

The South Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal seeks qualified professionals to develop and present training programs to fire marshals across our state as part of the Quarterly Fire Marshal Training programs.

Chosen presenters will be offered a part-time hourly wage to cover course preparation, travel, and delivery time. Chosen presentations must be delivered eight times during a three month period. Interested individuals must submit proposals by Monday, Oct. 31 in accordance with the instructions.

Qualifications:
The presenter must have a combination of experience, training, certifications, and professionalism and uphold a respectable presence in the fire service and/or code enforcement industries of South Carolina.

Preferred: IFSAC Fire Instructor 1, or successfully completed a college level public speaking class, and ICC and/or NFPA certifications.

Subject Matter and Presentation Method:
Presentations may be of any code related topic deemed to be of importance to Fire Code Officials. Presentations must be rooted in the ICC codes and referenced standards. Ideally, content should fill a five hour training session and be presented in a Powerpoint format.
